Throughout my career, I have been quite active in what is called the Behavioral Informatics industry, i.e. the use of technology to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the delivery of psychiatric care. As such, I started a company called Catalyst Integrations with the mission of making technological solutions affordable and usable for the average clinician. Here are some of the products that I have integrated into my practice.

I became involved with Askesis in 1995 while they were developing a comprehensive information system for the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Illinois in Chicago. The information system that I wanted for my practice did not exist at that time, but the product they were developing had great potential. I was their first investor and served as their Chief Medical Officer until 2000. I use the software, known as PsychConsult, to manage my practice as well as the practices of my colleagues.

In 2000 I met Dr. Giovanni Collela while I was helping ValueOptions, (managed care company), develop an Internet business. His product, which was to become RelayHealth, provides the security and basic functionality needed for my online physician-patient interaction.

As a consultant, I was one of the "alpha testers" of Infoscriber before it's initial launch. For several years it has been the backbone of my clinical activity. With it, I manage your prescriptions, document your progress, while monitoring drug interactions. It provides me instant access to your information from my office or home through secure encrypted connections.

I have been monitoring the development of Dr. Alan Wener's "Instant Medical History" product for about 5 years. His company, PrimeTime, has made this interactive tool available to me via the web. The product has over 30 medical symptom scales built into a "branching logic" program.
